Lola Billy and Corentin Horeau divert to Cascais for repairs

This Wednesday at 9:35 p.m., Lola Billy and Corentin Horeau informed the Race Management of the Transat Paprec of damage to their port rudder following a collision with floating debris. The duo aboard Région Bretagne - CMB Océane, who were in 8th place at the time of the incident, are unharmed and are not requesting assistance. No water ingress has been reported on the boat. At the time of the damage, Lola and Corentin were sailing in 15 to 18 knots of wind and moderate seas.
They have made the decision to divert to Cascais with the objective of replacing the rudder and rejoining the race, as permitted by the rules. The two sailors were keen to reassure Race Management during their communications. âThey are in control of the situation,â confirmed Race Director Francis Le Goff.
At 10:00 p.m., the duo was located 80 nautical miles from the Portuguese town. Lola and Corentin are expected to arrive there by early Thursday morning. Léo Le Coz, boat captain for the Région Bretagne - CMB training program, will be on site to assist with the repair.
