After 48 hours of intense sailing, Arno Biston and Vittoria Ripa Di Meana have unfortunately seen all their spinnakers tear. A spinnaker is a type of sail hoisted at the front of the monohull, particularly valuable when the wind blows from behind the boat. This sail is especially useful when crossing the Atlantic with the trade winds.
After informing the race management, Arno and Vittoria decided to divert towards the Canary Islands. They are expected to arrive in the middle of the night. Once there, the goal will be to assess the situation, inspect the damage, and, above all, do everything possible to repair the sails starting tomorrow morning in order to continue the race. The crew wanted to reassure everyone about their health and morale. The duo is "in complete control of the situation" and shows a fighting spirit, determined not to give up.
More updates to come.
